guest post from randal ford art: humans are like wolves

Hi Friends,

As we attempt to settle into the many changes of our post-COVID daily lives, I can’t help but think about Geronimo the wolf. People often ask me which animals are most memorable to me. And, while they all are in their own way, I felt a special connection to Geronimo.

Wolves are pack animals, they stick together through thick and thin, but every once in awhile a lone wolf emerges and separates. I have often marched to the beat of my own drum and formed my own paths in life, however, my connection to Geronimo has changed since we first met.

Humans are like wolves. We thrive in packs; we need each other to survive. When a worldwide pandemic strikes and halts life as we know it, becoming lone wolves in our own homes is not a choice, it’s a necessity.

I am reminding myself today of Geronimo; of his quiet strength and the packs of his ancestors who passed it down to him.

May we all remember the importance of our packs in this time and our need for community. I hope everyone is hanging in there and that our lone wolf days will come to an end soon enough.

Until then, I hear howling at the moon helps.

Best,
Randal Ford
