behind the scenes with shaun fenn

Seeing the behind the scenes moments of the making of any photo shoot is always fun. But for the shoot Shaun Fenn and his team recently completed in the time of Covid-19, the BTS images tell a powerful story. Shot for a telecommunications company, this was no small shoot—6 different locations across 5 shoot days with a staggering 57 talent and 2 dogs.

Shaun and his producer Paige Dorian Productions, managed the large scale production with grace and ease. The addition of all of the safety protocols added layers of complexity to an already full shoot schedule.

“Creatively solving problems is a big part of what we do normally. This most recent project introduced protocols and precautions to ensure our talent and crew were safe during the current pandemic. A great deal of time and effort was put into pre production so that we could still carry out the steps for a successful project. Paige and I have worked together for many years so we have totally dialed in processes in place to start with. This allowed our clients to have a sense of order to the chaos even sitting in a conference room 2200 miles away. As always, the primary objective is delivering beautiful authentic imagery and we were able to do that by doing our homework up front. Success is a happy client!” — Shaun Fenn

Paige had this to say about the process:

Since our clients were not able to travel, we shared three feeds of images and motion footage remotely for the entire shoot. We were connected on a Teams meeting all day and it felt like our clients were right there with us on set. The process worked like a charm and it was seamless to have them collaborating with Shaun to capture everything they needed.”

Simultaneous to our sharing of the BTS as the shoot was happening, our clients shared their own behind the scenes photos of our remote shoot, as well as the images Shaun was capturing in real time. It was such a thrill to see the shoot playing out from their perspective and through their lens.

We turned a teleconferencing room into mission control and are having a blast in our masks directing our week long LA shoot from 2200 miles away. Big props to @sirfenn and @paigedorianproductions for bringing the magic.”

A big thank you to our trusting client for an amazing shoot, we can’t wait to share the final images. In the meantime, head over to Shaun’s site for more inspiration.
