dracula drives an audi: rj muna's halloween images

The eerie streets of Halloween may be a little empty this year, but not quite as abandoned as the spooky roads leading to Dracula’s door. If there were ever a more perfect backdrop for Audi’s 2016 Halloween campaign, the gothic gray hills of Transylvania were it.

Time felt a little strange out there. We would be driving for miles in the middle of nothing and, all of a sudden, stumble across a man selling potatoes to no one, or an old woman walking to nowhere, with only a scarf and cane to her name.

Photographer RJ Muna and his talented team set out on a 3-day journey across the misty lands of Romania to photograph the new Audi R8. The scary good campaign aimed to feature the car’s blood red shine amongst the mysterious canyons and foothills, as if Dracula himself were behind the wheel.

We shot the main image on the actual day of Halloween-- that was an important element to the campaign.

After days of scouted locations in unexpected places, RJ and crew assembled the final shot beneath the ancient castle, with an almost uncanny Halloween-gloom looming above. The result was a compelling visual collection of refined mystery and allure. (P.S. Those people walking along the road were definitely ghosts.)

A big thank you to the team at MUH-TAY-ZIK HOF-FER for sending RJ out on this awesome adventure. Happy Halloween! Follow the link to see more of RJ’s spooky images for Audi.
